Harris County Treasurer Carla Wyatt Cited for Failure to Control Speed in a Four Vehicle North Freeway Crash

Harris County Treasurer Carla Wyatt was issued a citation for failure to control speed after Houston police said she caused a four vehicle crash on the North Freeway on September 18, KPRC 2 reports, citing a Texas Peace Officer’s Crash Report obtained with its community news partner Grizzy’s Hood News.

According to the report, the collision happened shortly after noon in the 6500 block of the North Freeway, north of Tidwell Road. Investigators wrote that Wyatt was driving northbound in the far left lane and failed to control speed, striking the vehicle ahead of her and then a third vehicle, which was pushed into a fourth. The report lists six people involved and says none were injured. It records that no alcohol or drug specimen was collected and contains no allegation that impairment contributed to the crash.

Wyatt, an elected countywide official, separately faces a driving while intoxicated charge filed in Galveston County after a May arrest in Texas City. She was released on a $3,000 bond and that case remains pending. She has not been convicted in that case. KPRC 2 says it has asked Wyatt and her attorney for comment.
