Good morning from the Lake Houston area. There are no flood alerts, flood watches or flood warnings in effect for Harris, Montgomery or Liberty counties this Thursday morning, September 10, 2026. Both Lake Houston and Lake Conroe are sitting in normal range, and both have edged down slightly over the past 24 hours.
Lake Levels at a Glance
| Lake | Level | Percent Full | Reading Time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lake Houston | 42.58 feet | 100 percent | 5:30 a.m. Central, Thursday, September 10 |
| Lake Conroe | 199.96 feet | 95.1 percent | Daily value for Thursday, September 10 |
Lake Houston
The U.S. Geological Survey gauge at Lake Houston near Sheldon, site number 08072000, read 42.58 feet at 5:30 a.m. Central on Thursday, September 10, 2026. Over the past 48 hours the gauge has moved between 42.51 and 42.64 feet, so this morning’s reading sits in the middle of that band.
The Texas Water Development Board lists Lake Houston at 42.56 feet and 100 percent of its conservation pool for Thursday, which agrees with the USGS gauge to within about two hundredths of a foot. The lake is full and steady. Nothing in the last two days of readings indicates a rising trend.
Lake Conroe
The Texas Water Development Board puts Lake Conroe at 199.96 feet and 95.1 percent full in its daily value for Thursday, September 10. That is down one hundredth of a foot from Wednesday’s 199.97 feet, continuing a slow four-day decline from 200.00 feet on Sunday. This is a once-daily figure rather than an intraday reading.
Lake Conroe belongs in a Lake Houston area report because San Jacinto River Authority releases from Conroe flow down the West Fork of the San Jacinto River and into Lake Houston. What happens upstream in Montgomery County is part of the flooding picture in Kingwood, Humble and Atascocita, which is why this paper carries the Conroe level alongside the local one.
Weather Forecast
Overnight: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms with partly cloudy skies and a low around 76 degrees. Wind is near calm. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.
Thursday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms under partly sunny skies. High near 92 degrees, with temperatures falling to around 87 in the afternoon. Heat index values as high as 105 degrees. South wind 0 to 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent, with new rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
Thursday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 10 p.m., then partly cloudy. Low around 75 degrees. South wind 0 to 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent, with new rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
The heat index near 105 degrees is the number to plan around today. Rain chances are real but the expected totals are light, and nothing in this forecast points to a rainfall event that would move either lake.
Active Weather Alerts
There are no active National Weather Service alerts of any kind for Harris County, Montgomery County or Liberty County as of 6 a.m. Central Thursday. Two alerts were active elsewhere in Texas at that time, a special weather statement in the Rio Grande Valley and a flood warning for Hardin and Jefferson counties in Southeast Texas. Neither one covers the Lake Houston area.
