Eli Lilly and Company held a groundbreaking September 21 for its $6.5 billion, 236-acre manufacturing site in Generation Park, Community Impact reports. The company also announced $12.5 million for a San Jacinto College training pathway into chemical manufacturing careers and a $2.5 million donation for scholarships at the college, which has a Generation Park campus.
The plant is expected to bring more than 600 permanent jobs and about 4,000 construction jobs. Generation Park is in northeast Houston near Lake Houston, inside the area Community Impact covers in its Lake Houston, Humble and Kingwood edition. Lake Houston Today covered the wider wave of drug manufacturing investment at Generation Park earlier this month.
