Good morning from Lake Houston Today. As of Saturday morning, October 10, there are no flood watches, flood warnings or flash flood alerts in effect for Harris, Montgomery or Liberty counties. Both Lake Houston and Lake Conroe are sitting in their normal operating range. One air quality alert is active for Harris County, and the details are in the alerts section below.
| Lake | Level | Percent full | Reading time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lake Houston | 42.50 feet | 100.0 percent | 5:30 a.m. Central, Saturday, October 10 |
| Lake Conroe | 199.79 feet | 94.3 percent | Daily value for Saturday, October 10 |
Lake Houston
The U.S. Geological Survey gauge at Lk Houston nr Sheldon, TX, site number 08072000, read 42.50 feet at 5:30 a.m. Central on Saturday, October 10. Over the previous 48 hours the gauge ranged from a low of 42.45 feet to a high of 42.60 feet, a spread of about two tenths of a foot, which is ordinary day to day movement rather than a rising trend.
The Texas Water Development Board lists Lake Houston at 100.0 percent of its conservation capacity in its daily value for October 10, with an elevation of 42.49 feet. That is within a hundredth of a foot of the USGS reading, the agreement you would expect between the two services.
Lake Conroe
The Texas Water Development Board put Lake Conroe at 199.79 feet and 94.3 percent full in its daily value for October 10, down from 199.81 feet and 94.4 percent the day before. That is a decline of about two hundredths of a foot in a day, a slow drawdown rather than a release event.
Lake Conroe matters in a Lake Houston paper because San Jacinto River Authority releases from Conroe flow down the West Fork of the San Jacinto River and into Lake Houston. The upstream level is part of the local flooding picture in Kingwood, Humble and Atascocita, which is why this report carries both lakes every time it runs.
