Harris County Judge Debate Ends After About 10 Minutes, Organizers Plan to Reschedule

A Harris County judge debate between Democrat Letitia Plummer and Republican Orlando Sanchez went offline after roughly 10 minutes on Monday, September 7, and did not resume. The event was moderated by Stephania Jimenez and streamed on the KPRC 2 website and YouTube, hosted by LULAC Sixty, the Menufo Club and the Culture Commission Coalition.

The host organizations attributed the stoppage to unexpected volume and technical difficulties during event preparation and said they plan to reschedule, though no new date has been announced. A promised replacement stream did not materialize.

The campaigns described what happened differently. Plummer’s senior advisor Jonathan Hildner said debate producers communicated that Sanchez did not want to continue that evening, and Plummer publicly said Sanchez quit. The Sanchez campaign indicated it was willing to reschedule and restructure the event; Chron reported it was unable to reach the campaign for direct comment as of Tuesday morning.

Harris County includes Kingwood, Atascocita, Humble, Huffman, Summerwood and Fall Creek, so the county judge race is on the ballot across the Lake Houston area in November.
