Lake Houston

The USGS gauge at Lk Houston nr Sheldon, TX, site 08072000, read 42.55 feet at 5:30 a.m. Central on Saturday, September 12. Over the past 48 hours the lake has moved in a narrow band between 42.47 and 42.58 feet, which is routine for this time of year. The Texas Water Development Board independently recorded 42.55 feet for the same day, an exact match with the USGS reading, and puts the reservoir at 100.0 percent of its conservation capacity.

Lake Conroe

The Texas Water Development Board lists Lake Conroe at 199.91 feet and 94.9 percent full for September 12, down 0.02 feet from the 199.93 feet recorded a day earlier. That is a slow, steady decline rather than anything unusual. This is a once daily value, not an intraday reading.

San Jacinto River Authority releases from Lake Conroe flow down the West Fork of the San Jacinto River into Lake Houston, which is why an upstream Montgomery County reservoir is part of the flooding picture in Kingwood, Humble and Atascocita.
