Longtime Humble resident Margaret Jo Johnson Byron will serve as grand marshal of the city’s 35th annual Christmas Parade of Lights, Community Impact reported. Mayor Norman Funderburk announced the selection at the September 24 city council meeting.
The parade is set for 6:30 p.m. on December 1 along Main Street in Humble, and the city organizes it.
Byron graduated from Humble High School in 1963 and was named a 2026 Distinguished Alumna by Humble ISD. Community Impact reported that she has ridden the Salt Grass Trail Ride for 50 years, led cemetery restoration work, served 10 years on the Humble Museum board, and volunteered with the city’s Beautification Committee since 1993. Funderburk described her as representing the old Humble that residents know well, and Byron said Humble is a special place for her.
