David L. Callender will retire as president and chief executive officer of Memorial Hermann Health System effective December 31, 2026, and executive vice president and chief financial officer Alec H. King will take over as chief executive on January 1, 2027, Community Impact reported.
Callender joined Memorial Hermann in 2019. The system said the succession followed a multi-year internal selection process. Memorial Hermann operates 391 locations across the Greater Houston area.
The change matters in the Lake Houston area because Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital in Humble is one of the main hospitals serving Humble, Kingwood, Atascocita and Huffman residents.
