Humble City Council Adopts a Lower Tax Rate for 2026-27, Cutting About Five Percent From the Current Rate

Humble City Council adopted a property tax rate of $0.245682 per $100 of valuation for fiscal year 2026-27 at its September 24 meeting, down from $0.258171 in the current year. The reduction is roughly 4.8 percent off the existing rate.

Council adopted the rate alongside a budget of about $43.6 million in expenditures against roughly $44.5 million in projected new revenue, according to Community Impact. The city’s costs for the coming year include about $1.8 million in employee raises. Mayor Norman Funderburk framed the reduction as a commitment that Humble residents will not be priced out of their homes by the city’s ad valorem rate.

Humble sets its own municipal tax rate separately from Harris County, which adopted a 67 cent rate on September 17, and from Humble ISD. A property owner inside Humble city limits pays all three. The city rate is the only one of the three going down this year.
