The Atascocita Fire Department deployed a crew to North Central Texas on September 28 ahead of the severe weather and flooding forecast for that part of the state later in the week, Kingwood.com reported.
The crew took the Southeast Texas Regional Advisory Council’s MPV601 AMBUS, a multi-patient bus used to move several patients at once during a mass casualty or evacuation event. Kingwood.com, citing the department’s announcement, reported that the deployment is expected to last one to two weeks.
The Atascocita Fire Department covers Atascocita and surrounding parts of unincorporated Harris County in the Lake Houston area. Gov. Greg Abbott warned the same week that heavy rain and flash flooding were expected along the I-35 corridor and across North-Central Texas, though not in the Houston region.
