The Coastal Water Authority has named Jonathan Mathers its government relations manager, in an appointment the agency announced August 21 and Community Impact reported this week. Mathers previously worked for the Texas Water Development Board and served as chief of staff to former state Rep. Bill Callegari and on the staff of state Sen. Drew Springer.
CWA Executive Director Greg Olinger said Mathers’s “background and relationships will strengthen CWA’s ability to communicate our mission, build lasting partnerships and advocate for the long-term water needs of the communities and industries we serve.”
The Coastal Water Authority supplies untreated surface water to cities and industry across Harris, Chambers and Liberty counties, including Houston, Baytown and Deer Park. It is a recurring name in Lake Houston area water and flood-control discussions and is among the parties scheduled to speak on the Lake Houston Gates Project at the September 22 District E town hall in Kingwood.
