Two Lake Houston area intersections are due to get new traffic signals before the end of the year, and a sidewalk project on West Lake Houston Parkway is still waiting on funding, according to a September 28 roundup of four area road projects by Community Impact reporter Hannah Brol.
The Four Projects
| Project | Status | Cost | Timeline |
|---|---|---|---|
| Traffic signal at Will Clayton Parkway and Tabor Brook Drive | Design | $650,000 | Construction expected in the fourth quarter of 2026 |
| Traffic signal at Woodland Hills Drive and Teakwood Spring Drive | Design | $650,000 | Construction expected in the fourth quarter of 2026, moved up from 2027 |
| West Lake Houston Parkway sidewalk, Phase 2, between Aerobic Avenue and FM 1960 | Under evaluation for funding and program viability | Not set | Not set |
| Northpark Drive overpass, between US 59 and Russell Palmer Road | About 75 percent complete | $76.8 million | April 2023 to April 2027 |
The Signal at Woodland Hills Drive Moved Up a Year
The Woodland Hills Drive and Teakwood Spring Drive signal is the one piece of new timing in the roundup. Construction had been set for 2027 and is now expected in the fourth quarter of this year. Both signals carry the same $650,000 price tag.
Northpark Drive Is Running Past Its Original Date
The Northpark Drive overpass between US 59 and Russell Palmer Road was originally due to finish in 2026 and is now scheduled to wrap in April 2027. That matches what TIRZ 10 officials told a Kingwood town hall this month, which Lake Houston Today covered in its report on the Phase 1 progress update.
