The Harris County Clerk’s office is launching a Harris Votes mobile app on October 1, ahead of the November 3 general election, Community Impact reported Monday. The app is available for both iPhone and Android, in English, Spanish, Vietnamese and Chinese.
According to the report, the app lets voters find voting centers, pull up a personalized sample ballot, check their registration status, see election dates with reminders, follow live results on election night, and read answers to common questions. The same information is available on the county’s website at harrisvotes.com.
Why It Matters Here
Kingwood, Humble, Atascocita, Huffman, Summerwood and Fall Creek all sit in Harris County, so the Harris County Clerk runs the November election for every voter in the Lake Houston area, and the sample ballot in the app is the local ballot.
The deadline to register to vote in the November 3 election is October 5. Lake Houston Today reported last week that a failure in the state Department of Public Safety system has caught some Harris County registrations ahead of that deadline.
