Lake Houston
The USGS gauge at Lk Houston nr Sheldon, TX, site 08072000, read 42.38 feet at 5:30 p.m. Central on Friday, October 16. Over the previous 48 hours the gauge logged 190 readings and ranged from 42.37 feet to 42.71 feet, with the high point recorded at 10:45 a.m. Friday and the low at 3:30 p.m. Thursday. Lake Conroe

That is up from 199.71 feet and 94.0 percent on October 15, a rise of about two hundredths of a foot. This is a once daily value rather than an intraday reading, so it carries a date rather than a timestamp.
San Jacinto River Authority releases from Lake Conroe flow down the West Fork of the San Jacinto River into Lake Houston. That is why the upstream level matters to residents of Kingwood, Humble and Atascocita, and why this paper carries it alongside the Lake Houston reading every day.
