An off-duty Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputy shot a man Sunday at about 5:10 p.m. in the Mission Bend area of west Harris County after calling in that she was holding him at gunpoint and that he was breaking into a neighbor’s home, KPRC 2 reports, citing the sheriff’s office. The man was flown to a hospital and is in critical but stable condition. The deputy had minor injuries.
No charges have been announced. The sheriff’s office says the shooting is under standard internal investigation, and the Harris County District Attorney’s Office is conducting an independent investigation that will be presented to a grand jury, as it is whenever a deputy fires a weapon. Anyone with information can call the sheriff’s office at 713-221-6000.
