Humble ISD is pressing Harris County Commissioners Court to help reverse a Harris County-Houston Sports Authority policy that would move high school graduations out of Reliant Stadium and into the smaller Reliant Arena, starting with the district’s May 2027 ceremonies. District officials told the court that Summer Creek High School graduations usually draw about 12,700 people, while the arena holds 6,500 to 7,500 with overflow offered up to about 12,000, a limit they say would cap each graduate at roughly six guests.
The sports authority told commissioners the change would let Reliant Park book higher revenue events during the 20-day May graduation window, and that it would weigh options and report back. No vote was taken and no date was set.
