Lake Levels at a Glance
| Lake | Level | Percent full | Reading |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lake Houston | 42.44 feet | 100.0 percent | 5:30 a.m. Central, Tuesday, October 6 |
| Lake Conroe | 199.88 feet | 94.7 percent | Daily value for Tuesday, October 6 |
Lake Houston
Lake Houston read 42.44 feet at 5:30 a.m. Central on Tuesday, October 6, at the U.S. Geological Survey gauge at Lk Houston nr Sheldon, TX, site number 08072000. Over the past 48 hours the lake has ranged from a high of 42.72 feet at 10:00 a.m. Sunday, October 4, down to a low of 42.38 feet at 7:45 p.m. Monday, October 5, a spread of about a third of a foot. This morning’s figure is six hundredths of a foot above that overnight low, so the lake has steadied rather than continued to fall.
The Texas Water Development Board puts Lake Houston at 42.44 feet and 100.0 percent of conservation capacity for October 6, which matches the USGS reading exactly. One hundred percent full means the reservoir is sitting at its normal operating pool, not that it is in flood. This is the fifth consecutive day the Texas Water Development Board has recorded the lake at 100.0 percent.
Lake Conroe
Lake Conroe read 199.88 feet and 94.7 percent full in the Texas Water Development Board’s daily value for October 6, down from 199.89 feet and 94.8 percent on October 5. That is a decline of about a hundredth of a foot, and the lake has now eased down for two consecutive days. This is a once-daily reading rather than an intraday one.
Lake Conroe matters in a Lake Houston paper because San Jacinto River Authority releases from Conroe flow down the West Fork of the San Jacinto River into Lake Houston. The upstream level is part of the local flooding picture in Kingwood, Humble and Atascocita, which is why this report carries both lakes every morning and evening.

Weather Alerts
There are no active National Weather Service alerts for Harris County, Montgomery County or Liberty County this morning.
