Harris County Commissioners Court declined a recommended 30 percent pay raise for County Treasurer Carla Wyatt on Tuesday, Houston Public Media and the Houston Chronicle reported. A county salary grievance committee had recommended lifting her pay from about $139,547 to roughly $181,400 after Wyatt requested $305,000, matching other countywide elected officials.
Commissioners are separately pursuing an effort to eliminate the elected treasurer’s office, which would require action beyond Commissioners Court, including voter approval. The Houston Chronicle has reported that Wyatt faces a pending DWI charge; that case has not been resolved.
