Harris County Commissioners Court approved six agreements with community organizations worth $181,105 from the county general fund for the provision of nutritious meals to homebound persons, Community Impact reported. The vote came at the court’s September 22 meeting.
The same meeting carried two parks items: $2 million in Texas Parks and Wildlife Department grant money for improvements at Doss Park, and approval for the county to pursue state funding toward a project at Tom Bass Park. Both parks are outside the Lake Houston area. The court also adopted fifteen resolutions, among them recognitions of Hispanic Heritage Month and Pet Wellness Month.
The meal agreements fund a county service for homebound residents countywide, which includes eligible residents in Humble, Atascocita, Huffman and the unincorporated parts of the Lake Houston area.
The court took a separate set of votes at the same meeting on flood control work, including the San Jacinto River watershed that drains this area. This paper covered those eight flood control escrow agreements on September 22.
