Good morning. This is the Thursday, September 24 lake levels and weather report for the Lake Houston area. No flood watches, flood warnings or flash flood warnings are in effect for Harris, Montgomery or Liberty counties. Both lakes are sitting in their normal operating range and have been easing down slightly all week. One air quality alert is active, and it is covered below.

Lake Houston
The U.S. Geological Survey gauge at Lake Houston near Sheldon, site 08072000, read 42.31 feet at 5:30 a.m. Central on Thursday, September 24. Over the previous 48 hours the gauge ranged from a low of 42.27 feet at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday to a high of 42.37 feet at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, a spread of one tenth of a foot. That is ordinary day to day movement rather than a trend in either direction.
The Texas Water Development Board put Lake Houston at 99.4 percent of conservation capacity in its daily reading for September 24, down from 99.7 percent on Monday.
Lake Conroe
The Texas Water Development Board daily value for Lake Conroe on September 24 was 199.69 feet and 93.9 percent full. That is down two hundredths of a foot from 199.71 feet on Wednesday, continuing a slow decline of about two hundredths of a foot a day through the week. Percent full slipped from 94.0 to 93.9 over the same day.
Lake Conroe matters in a Lake Houston paper because San Jacinto River Authority releases from Conroe flow down the West Fork of the San Jacinto River and into Lake Houston. The upstream level is part of the flooding picture in Kingwood, Humble and Atascocita, which is why this report carries both lakes every day.
